Here is what I consider to be an extreme couponer:
I only subscribe to one Sunday copy. I print internet coupons. I look for good match ups on coupon websites. I have a small stockpile in my spare bedroom closet.
Every penny I save through couponing or creative saving goes toward an extra student loan payment every month or it goes into our savings account.
If I can spend a few hours a week to save a good chunk off of my normal spending, then why wouldn't I want to do that? Plus, I find it enjoyable.
- Someone who buys more than 1-2 Sunday newspapers every week. Especially someone who subscribes to 6.
- Someone who obtains free or extremely cheap items that they do not need
- Someone who clears the shelf
- Someone who especially looks for money-makers (deals where you actually make money from coupons or couponed items)
- Someone who has a stockpile that looks like a store. Or whose stockpile is flowing over into their living area.
Some extreme couponers obtain free or cheap items and then give away those items or donate them to charity. That is a very awesome thing to do and I applaud them.
I actually have nothing against extreme couponers. The only people who bug me are the people who clear the shelves. That's really annoying.
I'm just not an extreme couponer for several reasons. The biggest one is that I do not have the space to have a huge stockpile, so it would be ridiculous if I subscribed to more than one copy of the newspaper. Also, I just don't want to. I'm happy with looking out for deals on items that I use everyday. When my stockpile is full, I hold off for a while.
